I am currently in the process of obtaining a Masters Degree in Sustainable Business Practices (MBA SBP) from Duquesne University. Looking to pursue a career in sustainability, preferably in the field of organic regenerative agriculture, soil health, or food systems. The systems of the earth and business practices must be integrated together. Working in harmony to create a world that regenerates soil, oceans, air, and the natural world, while at the same time enabling creativity and business innovation that interconnects with these systems. The strategy of sustainability must be at the core of business practice so that we may create a global environment that is conducive to life. While adapting to changes in markets has always been a business function, we must now see the long term impacts of each and every decision we make. For each decision we make today must be a compounding asset to our future return on investment. I define sustainability as the ability to last indefinitely, without compromising the health and longevity of the planet, current generations, and generations to come. We must rebuild together, for crisis breeds opportunity and opportunities can be attacked by communities. Â

I began working in Conservation at age 15 as a volunteer for the Student Conservation Association performing restoration work, trail building and maintenance, forest management and more. I then went on to volunteer and work for the SCA for over 10 years in various positions, as crew member and project leader. I have 5+ years experience with urban organic agriculture production and farmers market sales as well as herbal medicine and herb sales. I have 2+ years experience working at the Environmental Charter School in Pittsburgh as an after school instructor, teaching and facilitating environmental art and outdoor education. I have 2 years experience working with bicycle advocacy. I interned for one year with the City of Pittsburgh Bicycle and Pedestrian coordinator. I worked for 1 year as a sales manager, social media manager, and outreach person for a small family owned bicycle shop. I also taught individuals how to ride a bicycle for Cascade Bicycle Club in Seattle, Wa. I currently have a Bachelors degree in Environmental Studies with a focus in Policy. While studying at Chatham University in 2008, I ran the Environmental Student Organization on campus as president. I advocated for a work study position where I would conduct the first greenhouse gas emissions report. I collaborated with faculty and staff, collected data, and submitted it. The president of the school, then signed the President’s climate commitment. I helped start the first organic garden on Chatham’s farm campus, and I helped run an all women run bicycle shop on campus. I led students in retreats to learn about the environment and also organized volunteer and advocacy events. In 2006, I was able to substitute one semester of my college education for a hands on training with Greenpeace. I was trained and educated in Climate Change, was taught a number of different strategies to advance climate policies through community organizing and learned about the history of movements in America and abroad. While studying at Chatham I studied abroad for 3 weeks in Belize and Guatemala after a semester of studying conservation efforts there as well as sustainable farming practices. We then fundraised money to donate to the local conservation organizations in Belize through selling chocolate covered pretzels on campus before traveling abroad. For a senior thesis, I independently studied Bicycle Infrastructure Design in major cities while attending Chatham University and interning under the city of Pittsburgh Bicycle and Pedestrian planner. Finally, I studied and attending a number of conferences about the Green New Deal, Environmental Justice, and advocated when possible for policies in line with these ideals. Beginning in 2010, I transitioned to beginning to build a small healing arts business. I received an education in massage therapy, and a license to practice. I was attuned to a Reiki Master/Teacher level and apprenticed on an herbal medicine farm and learned for 3+ years everything about Northeast herbal medicine making and farming. I am highly interested in positions where I can promote market based strategies to Environmental Issues. I am highly interested in the policy and advocacy for bicycle and pedestrian infrastructure. I am highly interested in policy and market based solutions to promoting regenerative agriculture. I am highly interested in policy, advocacy, and market based solutions to promoting green jobs and environmental justice. I am interested in work involving land use and housing reform. I am especially interested in promoting public health through access to land, water, agriculture, organic food, and creating job training opportunities to provide entry into the green jobs field for those who may not be educated or qualified, as a form of environmental justice. I am skilled with public outreach, public speaking, marketing, social media, writing, photography, and creating promotional materials, as I have done this for many years for my small business. I am also highly interested in opportunities to collaborate on creative solutions to climate change, racial inequalities, and the public health crisis. Thank you.

I love solving problems. Little ones like software bugs to massive, messy global problems like climate change. While I have always been a natural problem solver, my time at NASA and academic research institutions taught me to think like a scientist... which I would essentially sum up as "critical thinking". This was hands down the most valuable skill I could have started my career with. Over the years, it's enabled me to solve many complex problems across disciplines, industries, and organizations. Whether it's understanding Earth's climate system in a research setting, using the build, measure, learn feedback loop in a startup, or breaking down big problems into smaller more manageable chunks while programming, they all required critical thinking. Today, humanity faces incredible challenges — none like anything we’ve ever faced before. To have any hope of overcoming them, we need to work together. Both for our own sake, and that of future generations. This is the fundamental reason why I work with mission-driven companies and organizations. These days, that takes the form of building software applications used by thousands of people every day. I believe in a cloud first, serverless approach that empowers businesses of all sizes to quickly scale and adapt to our rapidly changing world. To achieve this result today, my top tools of choice are Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Google Firebase, Node, TypeScript and Vue. In the past I've used Python, Flask, React, and many more libraries, frameworks, and tools. However, at the end of the day, it's more about the ability to think critically than it is the exact tools being used - though the right ones certainly help! That's what I love about software and tech: there's always something new to learn. If you think we'd hit it off, shoot me a message. I am always open to new opportunities and connecting with like minded individuals - particularly in the climate tech and sustainability spaces.
