Nexamp is seeking a Vice President, Utility Scale Solar Development that will lead the origination and development of utility scale solar projects for Nexamp. The person selected for this role will cultivate Nexamp’s utility scale strategy and oversee execution of the company’s utility scale development activities, including site origination, due diligence, permitting, and project development. Specifically, this candidate will:


  • Oversee Nexamp’s utility scale strategy and development activities in targeted utility scale markets.
  • Lead the origination and development of utility scale projects, providing oversight and management of development activities.
  • Lead and grow Nexamp’s existing utility scale solar team, including hiring and overseeing developers and technical personnel to support execution.
  • Identify new market opportunities for Nexamp utility scale projects, working alongside Nexamp’s energy storage team to develop PV projects paired with storage.
  • Coordinate closely with other internal Nexamp business units, including EPC and Asset Management, to facilitate the successful design, interconnection, construction, and management of Nexamp utility scale projects.
  • Travel as needed; some evening and weekend work required.


Our ideal candidate will have a broad skill set with a wide range of economic, technical, and industry knowledge. We are looking for an entrepreneurial leader who can organize cross-functional teams and think flexibly and strategically.  Direct experience with utility-scale project development is a requirement.  The ideal candidate must be enthusiastic, self-motivated, hands-on, results-oriented, and a team player. Key qualifications as follows:

  • Ten plus years of energy industry experience in a business development role, with a successful track record of project development.
  • At least three years of specific utility scale development experience.
  • Technical and commercial understanding of PV paired with storage.
  • Understanding of renewable energy project finance, including lender/equity requirements.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills.
  • Effective team leader and collaborator.
  • 4-year relevant college degree required; graduate degree preferred.
