Impossible Foods is seeking a mission-aligned Senior Scientist, to join the Product Innovation Department - an interdisciplinary team of designers, scientists, engineers, and chefs. We are looking for a curious, analytic, collaborative, and creative “can-do” problem solver that enjoys building innovations, and a deep expertise in microbiology, biochemistry, and natural products.
You will be leading cross-functional projects to discover and innovate novel shelf-life technologies.

You Will:

  • Develop new technologies from the ground up to improve product shelf-life, frozen and refrigeration.
  • Research novel ways to control microbes to prevent detrimental effects and promote positive attributes within ingredients and products. 
  • Innovate to create novel ways to control oxidation thought storage in products. 
  • Lead cross functional initiatives to integrate shelf-life technologies into current and new products.
  • Work with cross functional teams to investigate potential impacts of microbes on product quality and safety.
  • Be part of a team to develop methodology for de-risking frozen shelf-life.
  • Mentor scientists and research associates.

You Have:

  • Ph.D. in Microbiology,  Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Several years of post-PhD experience demonstrating innovative research and/or development. 
  • Deep expertise in Microbiology, Biochemistry and natural products. 
  • A proven record of initiative, creative problem solving, and productivity. 
  • Experience in technology development and implementation preferred. 
  • A strong commitment to Impossible Foods’ mission.
  • Experience managing individuals, with strong mentoring abilities
  • Self starter with the ability to thrive in a diverse, dynamic and fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal and collaboration skills.
  • Inclination to challenge assumptions to seek innovative solutions.
  • Track record of working cross-functionally.
