Job Description

Location: Flexible - commutable distance to London or Bristol

The OVO Group’s purpose is to drive progress towards net zero carbon living. To reach Plan Zero, we need everyone to come together - not just as customers buying energy, but as members with a common goal. As part of this ambitious plan, our goal is to become the ‘Leading Employer in the UK’ by 2030. If you think you could be the talent we’re looking for, then come and join the adventure!

We launched in 2009 with a mission to change energy for the better. Since then, we’ve welcomed over a million members, planted a million trees, and set our sights on helping save the planet.

As a Group, we’re working to become a net zero carbon business by 2030, while helping our OVO Energy members halve their carbon footprints at the same time.

Green energy and technology are great tools to fight the climate crisis with. But it’s people power that will rewrite history.

So we’re building a zero carbon team inside and out. Of people who share our values, feel inspired by our mission, and want to make change happen. When you work for OVO, it’s not just a job. It’s the work of a lifetime. And we want the sharpest minds to help.

Up for the challenge?

Where in the world of OVO will I be working?

We’re looking for a Product Analytics Lead to work across Energy, Smart Home & Drive customer facing products. We’re on the path to creating a robust and innovative Product Analytics function and this role will be pivotal in defining what that looks like.

You’ll deeply understand wider OVO strategic goals and regularly interact with key stakeholders. Alongside fellow leads from key Product functions like Product Management, Product Operations, Design, UX and Research, you’ll form part of the Product Leadership team at OVO Energy.

As a lead in the Product team you’ll be a key player in defining and measuring success metrics. You’ll also have a dotted line to the wider Analytics community of over 100 data practitioners, which you’ll be able to leverage for support and have the opportunity to contribute to best practise and community development.

What will I be doing?

You will be responsible for creating and leading the OVO Energy, Home & Drive Product Analytics function - focused on optimisation, performance metrics and reporting for the product domain. You’ll be responsible for several product analysts, developing their career paths and coaching them through data problems.

We are looking for a manager with strong technical expertise, and experience applying this in a commercial, ideally product focussed, setting. The Product Analysts in your team will be working across diverse, cross functional, product teams - optimising our digital experience and understanding how our customers use our products.

Like most analytics teams at OVO, the Product Analytics team is embedded within the specialist area that represents its focus and purpose - in this case, the Product function. Part of this role will be to establish strong relationships and shared practices with the other relevant data teams, who develop e.g. our Data Platform, central Data Science products,  and also teams and analysts in the wider analytics community.

The Product Analytics function will be responsible for the following - your role as a hands on leader would be to enable the team to succeed in this space whilst delivering value yourself:

  • Working with business leads to define and understand key metrics & OKRs
  • Reports and dashboards for the team to track performance
  • Providing deep dive analysis on new feature releases
  • Working with product managers, design & research to define the user research and optimisation roadmap
  • Working with your counterparts in other areas of the business to ensure we can analyse the whole customer journey, in a standardised way
  • Presenting insights back to the team and stakeholders
  • Align on data protection relevant to the kind of customer data tracked in this system
  • Supporting the Product Manager with defining and measuring key results
  • Supporting the Software Engineers to implement the right tracking to measure what we need to measure
  • Always thinking about how we could better understand how our members engage with our products through improved analytics
  • Ensuring consistency of approach and maximum reusability of data captured in Product Analytics
