Job Description

Commercial Manager - OVO Beyond

The Context

OVO is expanding beyond energy, into services that help everyone reduce their home carbon footprint. OVO Beyond is a premium subscription service that takes your home carbon footprint to zero. It’s our biggest non-energy service so far, and helps our most climate conscious customers be even greener. You’ll be working directly with the team that builds OVO Beyond, as well as experts from our Sustainability Team.

The Role

To date, commercial planning, partnerships and execution have been carried out by our product manager and marketing manager, however, we feel the time is right to unpack this function, and allow an experienced commercial manager to lead it. The commercial manager will be responsible for:

  • Managing the commercial partnerships that power OVO Beyond today (tree planting, gas offsetting, and more), including: sourcing new partners, expanding and refining existing relationships, and reporting.
  • The commercial strategy for increasing the customer base, and the margin of Beyond (pricing, commercial terms for components, etc).
  • The commercial strategy for supporting Energy sales through the bundling of Beyond (e.g. bundling Beyond with energy tariffs to drive overall CLV).
  • Creating commercial agreements with internal and external partners to bring members-only offers to OVO Beyond.
  • Working with sustainability and other partners to deliver new features and functionality to OVO Beyond.

Is this the job for me? 

Ideally you will have:

  • 7-10 years developing commercial partnerships across a broad range of industries, including building models for potential partnerships, negotiating contracts, and developing relationships over time.
  • A track record of developing partnerships that include both commercial and marketing considerations.
  • Experience working at a mass market consumer brand in digital services, retail, financial services, utilities or travel would be valuable.
  • Experience working with product development and technology teams is preferred.
  • A deep knowledge of the energy, and renewable energy sectors is preferred, but not essential.
