Where in the world of OVO will I be working? 

Reporting to the Senior Monitoring Manager, OVO Retail, this role will support the delivery of an effective Compliance Monitoring function. As an Auditor, you will deliver the Annual Review plan. By undertaking monitoring reviews covering the entire OVO Retail business, you will be helping to improve compliance with our regulatory and legislative obligations.

The Risk & Compliance team is a new one, created following the acquisition by OVO of SSE Energy Services and this is an exciting time to join the team as it integrates both businesses, working to deliver a best in class Risk and Compliance Service.

 

What will I be doing?

You will undertake reviews of a wide range of OVO Retail business areas, as outlined in the Annual Review plan. This will involve ensuring that each business area complies with applicable regulatory and legislative rules. This involves reviewing key business processes, procedures and outputs, talking with stakeholders and testing customer outcomes. A large part of the role is working cooperatively with colleagues to help solution appropriate compliant improvements where needed, whilst supporting the overall aims of the Retail business. The role requires knowledge covering a wide variety of business areas, legislative and regulatory rules and the ability to read and interpret obligations.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Delivery of the Annual Monitoring Programme through undertaking reviews
  • Developing regulatory knowledge of energy and non-energy industry areas that the OVO Retail business operates in and apply this knowledge to assessment of compliance. 
  • Building collegiate relationships with colleagues in the wider Compliance and Risk function to ensure consistent assessment of compliance is agreed and delivered to OVO Retail colleagues 
  • Developing a sound understanding of all of OVO Retail businesses and build and maintain a strong stakeholder network
  • Securing business buy-in to compliance requirements and aid understanding of what good compliance looks like by supporting colleagues to ‘find a way’. 
  • Tracking and advising on compliance action management through to appropriate conclusion. Escalating concerns where needed and working with appropriate cross-business teams to understand materiality of findings.

 

Is this the job for me? 

The ideal candidate will have a passion for compliance, communication and business improvement. They will have an ability to work cooperatively within OVO to assist business areas and simplify compliance complexity. They will have experience of delivering high value & quality outputs.

Ideally you will have:

  • An  IIA or ACCA auditor qualification or hold an equivalent level audit qualification or have a minimum 3 years experience of auditing of principal risks and/or specialist areas such as HR/IT/Finance and maintain knowledge of changes in applicable audit  standards.
  • A good understanding of the external rules (e.g. regulation, legislation) and their application to OVO.
  • You will be a skilled, experienced auditor with a track record of delivering audits that meet deadlines
  • You will be comfortable managing complexity, undertaking testing, utilising standard formats and working to agreed upon procedures
  • Some understanding of governance, risk and control concepts and their application
  • Experience of working with businesses to develop and enhance control frameworks.
  • Well organised, structured in approach and able to operate effectively in challenging situations. 
  • An excellent communicator with strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to influence and communicate with people at all levels and communicate complex ideas simply
  • Resilient in character with strong ethical values and a desire to get it right.
