SUMMARY

The Regulatory Associate will join the Storage Asset Management team and lead Nexamp’s participation in ISO New England’s energy markets - with a focus on ISO operations and ISO compliance. This role will be based either in Boston or Lowell, Massachusetts and will report to the Energy Storage Asset Manager. 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist Energy Storage Asset Manager in engagement of ISO New England for Nexamp to become a Lead Market Participant (LMP) and maintain ISO compliance over time 
  • Assist the legal team in determining the appropriate legal entities for ISO engagement and ensure FERC compliance across all entities and projects 
  • Assist the Energy Storage Asset Manager in analyzing Forward Capacity Market auctions, and identify where Nexamp is best placed to continue growing its revenue base  
  • Liaise with analysis teams to determine strategies that increase capacity supply obligations 
  • Work with the Business Development and Storage Asset Management teams to remain compliant in the Forward Capacity Market throughout the project lifecycle 
  • Develop market change memos by analyzing ISO New England market updates across all relevant revenue streams (capacity market, frequency regulation, reserves) 
  • Translate ISO regulations, market changes and available data into actionable intelligence to be leveraged by Nexamp’s operations and modeling functions 
  • Assist with the implementation of NERC Operations Center Compliance as Nexamp develops its real time monitoring and dispatch capabilities 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • 1 to 3 years research or operations experience at an ISO, utility, or energy company 
  • Understanding of US power and ancillary service markets with a preference for ISO New England market knowledge 
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills 
  • Able to work independently and in a team setting 
  • Highly organized and capable of managing multiple projects and initiatives
