Job Description

Where in the world of OVO will I be working?

The OVO Group’s mission is to drive progress towards net zero carbon living. We’re a collection of companies with a single vision: to power human progress with clean affordable energy for everyone.  Find out more here.

Kaluza is the centrepiece of OVO Group’s ambition to become the world leader in distributed energy technology. Kaluza is shaping the future: a distributed, consumer-centric energy system that will be the nervous system connecting energy retailers, grid & network operators and consumers to provide clean, affordable energy for everyone.

Kaluza is our flexible software platform which enables energy suppliers to provide a simple, transparent, reliable & ultimately delightful experience to their customers. We build tools and processes which enable suppliers to solve customer problems and help end users better manage their energy at home.

What will I be doing?

As Lead Business Analyst at Kaluza, you will manage a team of BAs that operate across the different groups of product teams (what we call ‘squads’).  You will lead the team by demonstrating best practice and being hands on the platform development programmes and workstreams. We are passionate about development at Kaluza, so ensuring the BA community is set up for career progression will be a key part of your role as their manager.

If you are an exceptional agile business analyst with several years of working in a product led organisation who loves leading teams - we want to hear from you!

What you’ll be doing...

  • Line management a team of business analysts that work across different teams in Kaluza
  • Ensuring that the BAs in Kaluza are working on the most crucial areas of platform development and making priority calls where demand exceeds capacity.
  • Defining and shaping requirements across multiple product teams
  • Translating business needs into technical requirements enabling engineering teams to develop solutions iteratively
  • Working with stakeholders across Kaluza to ensure high levels of engagement and knowledge sharing
  • Process analysis and design, particularly where processes span multiple teams
  • Data analysis yielding insight to inform strategic decision making
  • Producing visuals to meet the needs of the audience. (i.e. high-level conceptual visuals, low-level detailed visuals and everything in between)

We would love to hear from you if you are/have...

  • Several years experience in a business analyst role, ideally working alongside/within product teams
  • People management experience: in coaching, developing and mentoring others
  • Product development experience: of working with product teams to solve real world customer problems
  • Subject matter expertise: experience in the energy industry/regulated industries/SaaS platforms and specifically in PAYG would be a huge benefit
  • Business case creation skills: using a variety of analysis and presentation skills to enable leadership to make well-informed decisions
  • An agile practitioner: understanding and experience of agile as a mindset, and various associated frameworks, methodologies, and techniques

From us you’ll get*

  • An annual discretionary bonus
  • 4% of your salary to spend on flexible lifestyle benefits
  • 5% matched employer contribution to your pension
  • 25 days holiday + 1 for your birthday
  • And many more...

(*) Please note that certain benefits kick-in once you have passed probation which can be up to 6 months after your start date.

We want the best people

At OVO, we empower our people to have choice around where and when they work - flexible working arrangements can be discussed for all of our roles. Please speak to the Talent Acquisition team for more info.

We’re keen to meet people with varied backgrounds - our view is the more inclusive we are, the better our work will be. We want to build teams which represent a variety of experiences, perspectives and skills, and we recognise talent on the basis of merit and potential.

We understand some people may not apply for jobs unless they tick every box. If you're excited about joining us and think you have much of what we're looking for, even if you're not 100% sure… we'd love to hear from you.
