Job Description

Brand: OVO Retail

Reporting to:  Senior Sales Strategy Manager

The OVO Group’s purpose is to drive progress towards net zero carbon living. To reach Plan Zero, we need everyone to come together - not just as customers buying energy, but as members with a common goal. As part of this ambitious plan, our goal is to become the ‘Leading Employer in the UK’ by 2030. If you think you could be the talent we’re looking for, then come and join the adventure!

Where in the world of OVO will I be working?

You will be working within the Trading Performance team where our key focus is to ensure we deliver our customer numbers targets for all 3 products (Energy, Home Services, and Retail Telecoms) for SSE, OVO, CORGI and Boost brands.

We are responsible for finalising all forecasts and working with the channels to understand and mitigate any risks to the forecast, as well as providing challenge and guidance on how these plans deliver both short-term and long-term value for the brands and optimising the spend of customer acquisition costs (CAC).

The Trading Performance team tracks and reviews sales channel performance and works closely with retention to ensure we meet our overall customer target, as well as having detailed dialogue with the Commercial Leadership Team to ensure we are supporting the longer term strategic goals.

What will I be doing?

You will be supporting the Trading Performance team in the preparation of a suite of reports and analysis, ensuring all data is correct and identifying any trends in the data.  You will be ensuring that all forecasts are updated monthly and run through the various models to ensure the correct output.  You will be the main point of contact for co-ordinating all data submissions from channels and dealing with all sales-related inquiries.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Preparing the weekly and monthly trading reports with all sales and retention related data.
  • Tracking and updating all key actions from key meetings
  • Updating rolling forecasts each month with the latest actuals and running through the latest sales and retention submissions.
  • Constantly reviewing all key forecasting assumptions, understanding rationale for changes from the business as well as validating the data with actuals.
  • Forecasting short-term gains based on current performance for all products.
  • Managing the forecasting model configuration to ensure it reflects committed or emerging commercial strategies
  • Developing decision making models to assist the wider commercial teams in ensuring decisions are made to optimise long-term value, including the allocation of spend for CAC.
  • Supporting the Trading Performance team on ad-hoc requests.
  • Completing the monthly trading performance team KPI sheet and feeding this into the central KPIs.
  • Being a key data expert for the team - ensuring data consistency with the BI & customer retention team.

Is this the job for me?

The ideal candidate will have previous experience working in a data-driven role and be comfortable dealing with large datasets

Ideally you will have:

  • High proficiency in Excel and experience with visualization tools (e.g. Power B.I, Tableau)
  • A keen eye for detail and the ability to produce high-quality deliverables.
  • Strong problem solving, analytical, and critical thinking skills
  • Ability to work with large data sets and to synthesize information and draw meaningful conclusions
  • Ability to collaborate with others and work with a high degree of autonomy
  • Experience of working in a fast paced environment where prioritisation is required
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills - able to articulate results clearly and concisely to senior stakeholders.
