The Project Manager, Construction will provide technical guidance and support advanced development and construction for renewable energy projects. This role will be responsible for managing projects from advanced development and construction to achieve commercial operation and turnover to operations customer.

Responsibilities ⚙️
- Provide technical expertise and guidance to the business development team during the proposal and bidding stages for new renewable energy projects.
- Conduct competitive RFPs for selection of general contractors or subcontractors
- Prepare, negotiate and manage EPC Contracts
- Assist in site evaluation, feasibility studies, and preliminary system designs to support project proposals and bids
- Administer major project contracts including deliverables for interconnection agreement, finance and offtake agreements, build-transfer agreements, consulting, equipment supply and construction agreements
- Oversee and manage projects during the advanced development stage, which typically follows the awarding of a project contract
- Coordinate activities such as detailed engineering design, permitting, interconnection studies, and procurement of equipment and services
- Ensure that project milestones and deadlines are met during this phase
- Manage construction permitting activities and ensure that all required construction permits have been obtained
- Maintain a relationship with local AHJ to support construction permitting efforts
- Create and maintain project schedules and budgets, from late-stage development through and provide support until project COD and turnover to end user
- Manage and monitor engineering, procurement and construction activities for project sites including coordination with contractors, engineering and permitting consultants and major equipment suppliers
- Manage RFI’s in the appropriate construction management software
- Lead coordination of development and construction efforts with interconnecting utilities
- Assist development efforts including but not limited to permitting, attending landowner meetings, conducting site inspections and micro-siting evaluations
- Support internal project financing and accounting efforts including leading technical discussions with lender's independent engineer
- Identify and share lessons learned from projects to accurately improve overall project quality, schedule, cost and safety
- Other responsibilities as may be necessary for a fast-growing, entrepreneurial team
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date project documentation, including schedules, budgets, progress reports, and other relevant records
- Provide regular updates and reports to project stakeholders, including the project owner and the operations team responsible for the long-term management of renewable energy assets
Requirements 🎓
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management or equivalent construction experience
- 3+ years of progressive project management/construction management experience
- Renewable energy industry experience, specific to utility scale distributed generation solar (5-30MW projects)
- Construction Field Experience
- Thorough understanding and implementation of projects in accordance with contracts
- Excellent solution-seeking, teamwork, leadership and communication skills which extend across all organizational and management levels
- Demonstrated ability in leadership of multi-disciplined teams of engineers, outside consultants, suppliers, contractors, regulatory agencies
- Experience in development and execution of complex project schedules utilizing state-of-the art scheduling tools
- Ability to multi-task and arbitrate between conflicting priorities with clear target setting and follow-through capability in a fast-paced and rapidly changing work environment
- Ability to travel up to 30% of the time to support project efforts
Preferred Skills 💡
- Rooftop and Carport Solar installation preferred
- Energy Storage construction/development a plus
- A demonstrated track record of successfully planning and managing projects on time and in budget is preferred
- Working knowledge of OSHA requirements. OSHA 10 certification preferred
- Experience with project management software such as Procore, ProjectTeam, FieldWire, BlueBeam
- NABCEP, PV Installation Professional Certification a plus
