CET is looking for a skilled and knowledgeable person to join our team as a Home Energy Auditor! You will work with previously under-served communities in primarily in southwestern Connecticut to identify energy efficiency and electrification opportunities for their homes in accordance with the Connecticut Weatherization Assistance program. This position works in-person to perform energy audits of homes and requires that you are within 30-minute driving distance of the Bridgeport area of Connecticut.


As a Home Energy Auditor, you will be responsible for performing diagnostic tests, recommending weatherization opportunities, and explaining program offerings and incentives. If you have experience working on income eligible programs, please apply!

Vehicle Stipend: You use your own vehicle, and CET provides a monthly stipend of $750 

 

Mileage Reimbursement: CET pays mileage at the prevailing IRS mileage rate.


Home Office Stipend: CET provides a monthly $85 stipend for your home internet and/or phone expenses.

  • Conduct energy audits of existing homes, including combustion safety tests and other diagnostic tests, and analyze data.
  • Using software, quantify savings and produce reports documenting recommendations, including building electrification opportunities.
  • Learn and perform a variety of diagnostic tests.  
  • Provide excellent customer service during and after the audit. In particular: listening to customers to understand their needs and motivations; clearly and intelligently answering customer questions as relate to energy efficiency and electrification; effectively communicating recommended energy saving measures; following up with customers as needed.
  • Ensure that recommendations comply with program requirements for incentives and rebates.
  • Accurately enter audit data into appropriate databases and complete documentation and reports in a timely manner.

  • 2+ years of experience working in energy efficiency.
  • BPI Building Analyst or BPI HEP Energy Auditor certification preferred.
  • Experience working in a state Weatherization Assistance Program.
  • Good math skills with solid understanding of geometry.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Familiarity with various utility program offerings and analyze usage patterns.
  • Enthusiasm for the non-profit community mission of CET.
  • Experience with Salesforce, Microsoft Office and Handcock or Neat modeling software preferred. 
  • Ability to work independently and spend the majority of time in the field, while also collaborating with CET’s Technical and Operations teams.
  • A valid drivers license, a good driving record, access to a reliable, insured vehicle large enough to hold a blower door and other equipment, and ability to drive extensively throughout the region.
  • Ability to pass a drug test and background check.
