Director of Operations

 

Position Summary 

The Director of Operations will oversee the day-to-day production planning and operations activities of the Company, ensuring that these business units are performing efficiently and effectively to meet the quality, integrity, safety, and efficiency standards set by the Company and ensuring that all company policies are followed.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities 

To perform this job successfully, the individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

  • Oversee manufacturing and planning departments, ensuring each is reaching goals set by departmental and company leadership.
  • Establish quantitative and qualitative metrics, guidelines, and standards by which the company’s efficiency and effectiveness can be evaluated; identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Define and execute optimized production schedules to support financial and customer requirements.
  • Plan, monitor, and analyze key metrics for day-to-day operations to ensure efficient and timely completion of tasks.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership in the development of performance goals and long-term operational plans.
  • Develop and monitor revenue margins, operating expenses, and yearly budgets in conjunction with the Chief Financial Officer.
  • Set strategic goals for operational efficiency and increased productivity.
  • Support a positive work culture consistent with the objectives of senior management.
  • Review, analyze, and evaluate business operational procedures; Implement policies and procedures that will improve day-to-day planning and operations functions.
  • Lead coordination and integration of efforts among operations, engineering, technology, and customer service divisions to produce smoother workflow and more cost-effective business processes.
  • Maintain the work area in a clean and orderly condition and follow prescribed safety regulations.
  • Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

Experience/Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred – Business, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field.
  • 10 years experience in planning and operations roles preferred.
  • 5 + years in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with internal/external auditing in support of ISO9001, ISO14001, and IATF16949 qualification and in support of customer auditing requirements.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Excellent analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to quickly learn software systems used in operations-material control.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Thorough understanding of practices, theories, and policies involved in business and finance.
  • Excellent communicator – high level of emotional intelligence required.
  • Demonstrate judgment, tact, and diplomacy in dealing with internal and external Customers.
  • Self-motivated, enthusiastic-style of leadership.

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to use hands or finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls. The employee is required to stand; walk; sit; reach with hands and arms and pull/push; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must lift and/or move up to 50 pounds without assistance. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment – 

Includes both a typical office environment, with minimal exposure to excessive noise or adverse environmental issues, and a shop environment, with exposure to high noise levels from operating machines, physical hazards from moving equipment and machine parts, nuisance dust, and skin exposure to chemicals used to run/maintain machines

PPE-

May be required to wear Personal Protective Equipment, including but not limited to safety glasses, safety shoes, bump-caps, gloves, hair nets, masks, & clean-room frocks while adhering to the prescribed safety procedures
