CET is looking for an entry-level Home Energy Specialist!  As a Home Energy Specialist, internally called a Residential Energy Consultant, you will work with homeowners to identify energy efficiency and electrification opportunities. This is an opportunity to break into the field of energy efficiency. No auditing experience is required! We can train the right person located in or near Worcester, MA who meets our other requirements. 

 

For nearly 50 years, CET has helped people and businesses save energy and reduce waste. We partner with city and state agencies, utilities, homeowners, and business owners across the U.S. to build a just and equitable transition to the low-carbon economy. With the passage of state and federal climate policy, utility programs are rapidly evolving to align with carbon reduction goals. Inspectors and auditors are critical catalysts in getting energy measures implemented. This is an exciting time to work as an energy auditor!

Mileage Reimbursement: CET pays mileage at the prevailing IRS mileage rate. 

 

Home Office Stipend: CET provides a monthly $85 stipend for your home internet and/or phone expenses.

This is a perfect opportunity to break into the energy efficiency field. We will provide you with on-the-job training to: 


  • Conduct energy audits of existing homes 
  • Using software, quantify savings and produce reports documenting recommendations, including building electrification opportunities 
  • Provide excellent customer service during and after the audit. In particular: listening to customers to understand their needs and motivations; clearly and intelligently answering customer questions as they relate to energy efficiency and electrification; effectively communicating recommended energy saving measures; following up with customers as needed. 
  • Ensure that recommendations comply with program requirements for incentives and rebates. 
  • Conduct combustion safety and other diagnostic tests. 
  • Use software to quantify savings and produce reports documenting recommendations, including building electrification opportunities 
  • Analyze usage data 

 

You’re a great fit for this exciting role in energy-efficiency if you have: 

 

  • Minimum 1 years' experience working in energy efficiency preferred with BPI certification. You may have worked as an Energy Specialist, Home Energy Auditor, or Energy Technician.  
  • Strong math skills with excellent understanding of geometry. 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills. 
  • Familiarity with various utility program offerings and analyzing usage patterns. 
  • Experience with Salesforce, Microsoft Office and a modeling software preferred. 
  • Ability to work independently and spend the majority of time in the field, while also collaborating with CET’s Technical and Operations teams. 
  • Must be able to pass drug test and background check.

This position performs site visits in person in Massachusetts and will need to travel to and around Worcester, MA daily.
