Where in the world of OVO will I be working? 

Working within OVO’s Trading function, this role sits within the Renewable Energy Trading team and reports into the Renewable Energy Trading Manager.  This team of Originators and Analysts is responsible for the effective procurement of renewable energy for OVO’s customer base through both direct electricity offtake from renewable facilities and the procurement of green certificates.  

This external facing role will be critical to delivering OVO’s green commitments.  The role holder will take the lead on managing OVOs green certificate positions, including building partnerships with brokers and direct counterparties. They will manage certificate deals through the full trade lifecycle from origination to settlement and compliance, to ensure that OVO complies with its green commitments in the most cost effective manner.

OVO’s Trading function is a dynamic and fast paced environment that manages over £1 bn of wholesale energy requirements and £400m of green certificates each year.

What will I be doing?

Key responsibilities include:

• Green Certificate Trading (REGOs, GoOs, ROCs, RGGOs, Carbon Offset Certificates, Gas Generator Declarations)
• Negotiation of commercial arrangements linked to certificate trades
• Owning the Green Certificate Management Process from forecast through to scheme compliance
• Management and monitoring of our certificate traded position vs forecast requirements
• Monitoring renewables market developments
• Engaging in industry consultations related to renewables markets
• Ensuring Ovo is aware of and compliant with all of our green certificate trading requirements
• Providing support to the wider Renewable Energy Trading team, including with PPA origination, as required

Experience of the energy sector would be a bonus but is not essential
