About the role:

We are seeking a visionary, strategic, and dynamic Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) to join the leadership team at WeatherXM. In this critical role, you will be instrumental in shaping the company's commercial strategy, driving partnerships, and positioning WeatherXM within the market. You’ll work closely with internal teams to align our product offerings with market needs and develop strategies to attract and retain key stakeholders.

As CCO, you will have the opportunity to explore new business models, partnerships, and strategies to support the growth of our company. The ideal candidate will combine strategic thinking with hands-on execution, leveraging their commercial expertise and creativity to take our business to the next level. 

Responsibilities:

Developing and Executing Commercial Strategy:

  • Create and implement strategies that align with WeatherXM’s long-term goals, with a focus on identifying new market opportunities, partnerships, and revenue streams.
  • Set up systems for tracking key commercial metrics and adjust the strategy as the company scales.

Driving Business Growth and Market Expansion:

  • Identify and build strategic relationships with potential partners, customers, and stakeholders within the weather data space, space and related industries.
  • Leverage industry insights to develop go-to-market plans that will maximize future revenue.

Overseeing Sales and Marketing Functions:

  • Manage and align the sales and marketing teams to effectively communicate the value of WeatherXM’s products.
  • Ensure the marketing strategies generate leads and build a strong market presence.

Collaborating Across Teams:

  • Work closely with product development, engineering, and operations to ensure customer needs are met and all departments contribute to the company's commercial success.
  • Provide input into product development to ensure offerings meet market demand.

Financial and Budget Management:

  • Develop revenue forecasts and monitor financial performance, ensuring that the commercial side operates efficiently within the allocated budget.
  • Work with finance teams to set and meet financial targets.

Market Analysis and Competitive Intelligence:

  • Keep abreast of market trends, competitive landscape, and customer needs to inform business decisions and maintain WeatherXM’s competitive advantage.

Requirements

  • Proven track record of working within a startup, SaaS, or a company focused on selling data or B2B demand. 
  • Ability to navigate the challenges of scaling a data-driven business model, building partnerships, and driving revenue growth through B2B demand generation and strategic data-based offerings.
  • Ability to identify high-impact activities in a dynamic startup environment, balancing multiple tasks and focusing on those that drive the most value to push the business forward.
  • Strong proficiency in translating complex technical projects into clear, engaging language for grant applications, pitch events, communications, and other business documentation.
  • Must be data-savvy, with the ability to collect, analyze, and clearly communicate insights to the team. 
  • Proven experience in guiding the company’s strategic direction, while maintaining flexibility in approach, understanding that startups often evolve with a general direction rather than a rigid plan.
  • Expertise in creating order out of chaos by developing processes, plans, and structures to shape a clear business path from an early-stage concept.
  • Solid understanding of financial planning, though less critical than in larger companies, being able to grasp key metrics and apply them to decision-making.
  • Strong leadership ability to collaborate with various departments (sales, marketing, product), aligning efforts to drive revenue and market growth.

You get bonus points, if you have:

  • Familiarity with the Web3/crypto world.
  • Understanding of DeFi / crypto primitives.
  • Experience with weather data or weather related products.
