You will primarily focus on supporting new business acquisitions for Scale’s various products and services and delivering our go-to-market strategy by handling sales material generation and support, meeting with customers, generating proposals and RFP responses, and following up on marketing campaigns with Inside Sales whilst striving to optimize margin and customer retention. The role is based in our Santa Monica, CA office and will report to our VP, Business Development - West.


Key responsibilities will include:

  • Support new business acquisitions for Scale’s West Coast Business Development team utilizing Scale’s products and services to meet or exceed assigned new business pipeline goals and closed deal quotas for the team.
  • Work with Business Development Managers (BDMs) to support upselling products, i.e. full microgrid from BESS only deals.
  • Proposal and sales material generation support for indicative through firm offers for BDMs
  • Attend customer calls and be connected to the full process (see how different BDMs pitch); travel with BDMs to site visits as needed
  • Model support for BDMs to work with the Project Analysis team through early-stage deals, task tracking support to hit deadlines
  • Deal support through Asana and deal team critical path monitoring
  • Adhoc market research support to identify new grants/incentive programs / and tariffs in core markets (not for new market analysis) working with the Policy team and their third-party relations as needed (thinking Momentum tracker analysis to highlight and translate to the full team)
  • Build an understanding of market drivers and impacts on supply and demand and how to use this information to identify customer opportunities.
  • Learn customers’ business objectives and price risk tolerances and work with BDMs to develop customer plans and strategies.
  • Leadership support and review of team weekly pipeline reporting and process management/improvement
  • Interface with Inside Sales to support ongoing and upcoming campaigns
  • Build strong professional relationships with customers and internal stakeholders.
  • Demonstrates the ability to communicate effectively in person as well as through written materials to clearly convey the value proposition of most products and components.
  • Travel required as necessary to meet business needs.
  • In-person attendance for training, team meetings, and other moments that matter.

The Ideal Candidate

  • 3+ years of work experience in sales, business management strategies
  • Working knowledge of energy project development, financing, and contracting
  • An awesome network of energy peers
  • Demonstrated ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced, and sometimes ambiguous environment
  • Self-motivated, requiring minimal oversight to excel
  • Familiar with CRMs (Salesforce, HubSpot, or similar)
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
  • Excellent verbal, written, presentation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Master’s degree preferred or a Bachelor’s degree with equivalent experience
