Position Summary

We are seeking an exceptionally driven and passionate individual to join our solid-state thermal battery engineering team. You will collaborate with internal engineering and operations teams to safely operate first-of-a-kind industrial installations of the Antora thermal battery. You will be a key technical member of a cross-functional and rapidly growing organization. Your work will directly contribute to the demonstration of a first of a kind long-duration energy storage technology.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Work with a high degree of autonomy while remaining open to deliver and receive feedback
  • Utilize SCADA system to operate high power (hundreds of kW to MW), high temperature (>2000C) R&D and production units
  • Take regular logs and document operational anomalies for communication to Antora test engineering and the product development group at large
  • Learn how to install and maintain plant instrumentation and electrical control cabinets
  • Support install, uninstall and commissioning activities to enable full-scale TES module testing
  • Develop and maintain plant SOP’s 
  • Generate and execute on designs for minor site or equipment modifications and upgrades
  • Diagnose construction and machinery issues; perform maintenance; resolve onsite malfunctions
  • Perform quality control, follow reporting and record keeping procedures, and report problems to supervisor
  • Comply with all safety and health regulations
  • Help with site package receiving, inventory control, cleanliness of workspace and equipment
  • Operate as the primary point of contact for the site during off-hours

Key Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in STEM
  • Knowledge of industrial plant operation
  • Knowledge of electrical circuits and experience with a multimeter
  • Willingness to work 12 hour rotating shifts (days, nights, weekends)
  • Willingness to learn how to perform mechanical maintenance
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Demonstrated experience working on teams in fast-moving environments and under pressure
  • Competent with basic computer skills and business software packages (Slack, Excel, Adobe, etc.)
  • Ability to lift heavy equipment, to bend, and to stand or walk for long periods of time
  • Strong communication skills to determine site needs and explain complex operational issues

Additional Qualifications Desired

  • Technical training in electrical disciplines
  • 3+ years operating experience in an industrial facility, process industry, or similar relevant experience
  • Previous lifting operations experience (fork lift, rigger, crane operator, etc.)
  • Experience with high-temperature, high-power industrial systems (energy, thermal processing rockets, etc.) in a fast moving environment with exposure to a wide array of subsystems (fluids, thermal, electrical etc.) and instrumentation (TC/RTD, optical sensors, load gauges, flow meters, etc)
  • Experience with common communication industrial communication protocols (Ethernet/IP, Modbus, Profinet, HART, CAN, etc.) and PLC programming
  • Lift operations experience (fork lift, rigger, crane operator, etc.)
  • Experience troubleshooting test equipment and coming up with quick solutions
  • Data analysis experience and able to create trends relevant to tests being performed

 

Location:  Onsite - San Joaquin, CA

Salary Range:  $40.00 USD - $45.00 USD

Salary Basis:  Hourly

The actual salary offered will be determined within the posted range based on a candidate's experience, credentials, and expertise as they pertain to the requirements of the position.
