Recycled Materials Association - Intern, Government Relations

The Recycled Materials Associations seeks a dedicated and passionate Government Relations Intern(s) during 2025 to provide assistance on key projects and research to further the goals of the recycled materials industry. The intern will assist the Government Relations team – state, federal and international – with policy issues research and management, policy analysis, and more.  

The intern(s) will become familiar with the role ReMA plays in the legislative and regulatory arenas, with this internship offering the opportunity to gain valuable skills, network, and learn about sustainability, trade, and industry-specific policy, government affairs, regulation, and legislation at all levels of government. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical, writing, investigative, interpersonal, and communicative skills and have the ability to multi-task and work as a team player.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions)

• Researches and tracks federal and state legislation.
• Assists in scheduling and attends as needed Congressional meetings, hearings, and other briefings.
• Drafts correspondence, talking points and background materials for use by the government relations team. 
• Assists in preparing policy positioning materials, blogs, and other research materials,  
• Attends Division and committee (GR) meetings and prepares summaries.
• Researches emerging issues as directed by ReMA Staff
• Assists with preparations for ReMA events, and may or may not attend based on budgetary constraints.  

• Candidates will have completed at least two years of undergraduate university coursework in political science, or other similar programs. 
• Candidates must have an interest in government and legislative affairs, 
• Ability to meet deadlines while demonstrating professionalism under pressure.
• Thrives in environments requiring ability to effectively prioritize and juggle concurrent projects from conception to completion.
• Must have exceptional skills in editing documents, memos, and spreadsheets; experience using Office 365 and other office computer systems is desired.
