Overview

The Trade Ally and Training Manager plays a key role in the development and management of the Train Green Program which is a training, credentialing, and certification program for District Certified Business Enterprises (CBEs) and/or CBE-eligible firms. This program is designed to assist these organizations in acquiring new or enhanced skills and knowledge around energy efficiency and renewable energy design, construction, inspection, and maintenance. This position works in the field to proactively engage, support, and strengthen relationships with contractors  and stakeholders across the District. 

 

Location:

This is a hybrid position, and the ideal candidate will be located in Washington, DC.

 

Compensation:

At VEIC, we are committed to pay transparency. The starting pay range for this position will be between $90,000-$100,000 annually. Based on market data, pay may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, education, experience, and location. Please discuss your intended work location with the recruiter for more information. Responsibilities

 

  • Builds and maintains long-term relationships with contractors, distributors, and manufacturers in Washington, D.C.. Initiates key strategic partnerships between DC SEU and selected trade groups and associations. 
  • Provides dedicated face-to-face field support combining a technical consultation/consultative sales approach to support contractor base.    
  • Identifies and understands contractors, distributors, and manufacturers' business needs, barriers to participation in DC SEU programs, and business objectives, and motivates contractors to take appropriate action to drive energy efficiency in projects. 
  • Conducts analyses and provides recommendations to the DCSEU operations teams to improve processes relative to all contractor, distributor, or manufacturer support functions and the overall customer experience. 
  • Participates in ongoing individual and team training and provides peer coaching to other Account Managers, Engineering Consultants, and other VEIC staff to enhance technical skills.  

Training Manager Responsibilities 

  • Oversees the Train Green Program for DCSEU. This includes the following initiatives: 
  • RFP and Contract Management 
  • Annual collaboration with Director of Account Management and Workforce Development and internal legal team to develop Instructors Request for Proposal (RFP). 
  • Partners with communications team to promote RFP and manage applications. 
  • Lead proposal review process and contract negotiation, drafting of scope of work and pricing provisions, supporting incoming questions regarding program, and coordinates the financial and insurance documentation. 
  • Tracks the budget and conducts financial forecasting to manage program performance. 
  • Instructor and Participant Recruitment, Scheduling and Coordination 
  • Regularly attends conferences, workshops, and educational seminars to recruit new instructors to submit proposals to RFP process. 
  • Conducts calls and meetings with potential vendors to generate RFP responses. 
  • Manages course delivery throughout the contract through email and meetings. 
  • Maintains master calendar and invoice tracking in course tracker . 
  • Provides guidance to Training Coordinator who assists with participant enrollment, course participation, and performance monitoring. 
  • Communications and Virtual Meeting Coordination 
  • Manages the course Zoom and Eventbrite registration and co-hosts webinars.  
  • Collaborates with Marketing team on course survey development and delivery and data analysis. 
  • Collaborates with Marketing on advertising campaigns and social media outreach. 
  • Customer Service for Companies and Individuals 
  • Responds to incoming email and phone inquiries and requests related to Train Green. 
  • Provides guidance on career development through Train Green pathways. 
  • Supports CBE professional development efforts through technical assistance and training guidance. 
  • Internal and External Program Reporting 
  • Drafts and coordinates the development of mid-term and year-end reporting. 
  • Collaborates with the Marketing and data analysis teams to develop reporting tools and update annually. 
  • Other duties as assigned. 

Qualifications

  • Strong personal commitment to the mission, vision, goals and values of VEIC. 
  • Bachelor’s degree or a similar combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills have been acquired.  
  • Five years of experience in operations or program management including tactical decision-making, influential leadership, facilitation, resource management, budget management, communications, and the ability to develop and attain goals.  A Program Management Professional (PgMP) or Project Management (PMP) certification is highly desired. 
  • Proven ability to develop strong working relationships, and collaborate with internal staff, customers, trade allies, and community organizations including government entities. 
  • Ability to carry out systematic data tracking and reporting processes and implement planned steps from start to finish.  
  • Demonstrated experience generating reports with spreadsheet and/ or database programs such as Excel and Access. 
  • Demonstrated ability to be organized, detail-oriented, accurate, and able to handle multiple tasks and competing priorities in a dynamic and fast-paced environment. 
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, and experience with substantive elements of customer service. 
  • Strong interpersonal skills including effectiveness in productive communications along with a high degree of professionalism, maturity, and a polished demeanor. 

Working Conditions: 

Internal - Office work is normally performed in either a home office or in VEIC’s climate-controlled office environment, where exposure to conditions of extreme heat/cold, poor ventilation, fumes and gases is very limited. Noise level is moderate and includes sounds of normal office equipment (computers, telephones, etc.).  No known environmental hazards are encountered in normal performance of office job duties. Depending on territory assignment, a remote work arrangement may be required or optional. 

 

External - Less than 30% travel required and all within the Washington, D.C. area. 

Physical Demands: 

Work involves standing and walking for brief periods of time, but most duties are performed from a seated position. There is potential for eyestrain from reading detailed materials and computer screen. Deadlines, workloads during peak periods and changing priorities may cause increased stress levels. Work may include occasional pushing, pulling, or carrying objects weighing approximately 40 pounds such as files, documents, and some equipment. Work normally requires finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination to operate computer keyboards at a moderate skill level. Repetitive motion injuries may occur. Company will provide adaptive devices as needed.
