What we’re looking for:
Nexamp is looking to hire an Electrical Safety Manager. This position focuses on development, implementation, and continuous improvement of Nexamp’s electrical safety programs. The role is essential in conducting site audits, performing risk assessments, implementing electrical safety training for internal team members and external contractors, and ensuring compliance with electrical safety standards, regulations, and best practices. The Electrical Safety Manager will play a key role in maintaining a safe working environment and preventing electrical hazards across all Nexamp sites from project development through lifecycle operations.
You will be hybrid out of Chicago, IL. You will report to the Director, Environmental Health, and Safety.
What you’ll do:
Safety Program Management and Compliance
- Establish requirements for designation of employees as competent, qualified, and authorized persons as defined in OSHA regulations and NFPA 70E standards.
- Manage the electrical PPE program and other electrical safety equipment (as needed), including but not limited to the identification of vendors, product approval, and periodic review/inspections.
- Create standard operating procedures (SOP’s), mostly covering electrical topics, that align with the company’s field activities and operations, safety culture, and core values (SOP development may be done individually or as part of a cross organizational team).
- Prepare and keep program areas, records, and procedures up to date.
Site Audits and Safety Monitoring
- Review Nexamp and subcontractor activities at construction sites and operating plant locations through a combination of site visits, proactive reporting, and documentation audits.
- Conduct regular inspections and site visits, incident reviews and investigations, evaluating site-specific safety requirements, ensuring regular compliance, and enhancing risk mitigation.
Electrical Safety Training and Development
- Develop and conduct electrical safety training for Nexamp employees and contractors, focusing on electrical hazard identification, lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures, arc flash safety, and emergency response. Ensure training is ongoing and regularly updated.
- Train construction and operations stakeholders in documenting risk assessments and safe methods of procedure for activities associated with solar photovoltaic (PV) and battery energy storage equipment installation, operation, and maintenance.
Emergency Response and Incident Management
- Ensure that emergency response plans are in place and that all employees are equipped to handle incidents. Lead investigations to prevent recurrence and ensure effective communication across teams.
- Oversee the development and implementation of emergency response protocols for electrical incidents, ensuring all workers are trained and prepared to respond to electrical hazards effectively.
- Provide thoughtful leadership during incident investigations, and communicate effectively across team members, subcontractors, senior leaders, first responders, and regulators.
Cross Department Collaboration and Subject Matter Expertise
- Provide guidance to other departments, offering expert advice and reviews on safety-related designs and operations, while contributing to broader company objectives.
- Provide electrical safety subject matter expertise to the engineering team through equipment and labeling design reviews, as well as fire mitigation plan development.
- Perform other tasks as directed by management.
What you’ll bring:
- Bachelor of Science in Safety and Occupational Health, Electrical Engineering, or similar scientific discipline or Successful completion of an Electrical Apprenticeship, Journeyman preferred.
- OSHA Electrical Safety Regulations: Working knowledge of federal Safety and Health Regulations for Electrical Safety in both general industry and construction (29 CFR 1910 Subpart S, 29 CFR and 1926 Subpart K).
- National Fire Protection Association Electrical Safety Standards: Working knowledge of NFPA 70E Standard for Electrical Safety in the Workplace.
- Microsoft Office Applications: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams
- Building Collaborative Relationships: The ability to develop, maintain, and strengthen partnerships with others inside or outside the organization who can provide information, assistance, and support.

Compensation
The reasonably estimated salary for this role at Nexamp ranges from $116,000 - $130,000. In addition to base salary, the competitive compensation package may include, depending on the role, participation in an incentive program linked to performance (for example, annual bonus programs based on individual and company performance, non-annual sales incentive plans, or other non-annual incentive plans). Additionally, you may be eligible to participate in the Company’s stock option plan. Actual base salary may vary based upon, but is not limited to, skills and qualifications, internal equity, performance, and geographic location.
