Operations Manager, Production

Position Summary

Responsible for effectively managing all production-related strategic operational processes and resources, and for leading the production organization to achieve and maintain operational excellence.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

To perform this job successfully, the individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. 

  • Manage appropriate staffing and inventory levels.
  • Oversee the assembly operations to meet KPI.
  • Supervise production staff on work method and quality checkpoints.
  • Coordinate with other departments and other sites to drive for excellence.
  • Coordinate operations team efforts with procurement, planning, maintenance, and engineering to ensure success.
  • Ensure ISO and safety standards are adhered to.
  • Report to leadership team in daily/weekly operations reviews.
  • Coach and mentor Operations team.
  • Leverage industry practices and apply to internal systems and processes.
  • Implement appropriate HR strategies and actions to recruit and retain a qualified and motivated workforce.

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities):

Education and Experience

  • Requires a bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • 6+ years of experience in an operations environment preferred
  • 5+ years supervisory or management experience preferred

Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Working knowledge of ERP/MRP systems
  • Experience in ISO/IATF production environments
  • Drive toward defining, developing, and reinforcing overall accountability in production operations, usage of resources, and timely and accurate reporting
  • Experience in performance development, teaching/leading, mentoring and/or organization development.
  • Strong organizational skills, dependability, and punctuality.
  • Ability to work well under pressure, in a fast-paced, high stress environment with multiple deadlines
  • Excellent written and oral communication
  • Office Skills: telephones, word processing, spreadsheet (PC), presentation and database software.
  • Ability to collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
  • Ability to balance business and customer needs when making day-to-day decisions

Physical Demands – Manufacturing Environment

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to perform physically demanding work for extended periods of time, up to 12 hours a day. Position includes ability to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to use hands or finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls. The employee is required to stand; walk; sit; reach with hands and arms and pull/push; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl for extended periods of time. The employee must lift and/or move up to 35 pounds without assistance (including ability to carry 20 lbs. up and down stairs). Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus

Work Environment – Manufacturing/Shop Environment

Includes a shop environment, with exposure to high noise levels from operating machines, physical hazards from moving equipment and machine parts, nuisance dust, and skin exposure to hazardous materials used during material prep process.
