New Energy Equity is seeking a skilled Project Manager II to lead and support the development of commercial and industrial solar projects (100kW to 5MW AC). In this role, you will provide technical expertise, manage project scope, schedule, and budget, and collaborate with contractors, utilities, and key stakeholders to ensure seamless project execution. You will also assist junior project managers, oversee system design and interconnection applications, and drive projects from initial site visits to commissioning. The ideal candidate has 6+ years of experience in project management, engineering, or construction within the energy sector. PMP and NABCEP certifications are a plus. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Include the Following: 

  • Act as technical lead/support for solar projects.
  • Be available to assist other level 1 project managers with decision making and technical questions.
  • Design 100kW to 5MW AC solar/PV systems using AutoCAD and other tools.
  • Run system production modeling using PVsyst, and other tools.
  • Manage project scope, schedule, budget, and cost.
  • Manage invoice requests, approvals, and change order requests.
  • Perform technical project management on multiple concurrent projects.
  • Work independently in the negotiation of deliverables with contractors, business partners, AHJ鈥檚, and other stakeholders.
  • Maintain a detailed and organized document library for each project under management.
  • Perform site inspections in the field.
  • Perform initial site visits in the field.
  • Complete and submit utility interconnection applications.
  • Manage and organize weekly agendas with clients
  • Coordinate with contractors to complete design, installation and commissioning maintaining budget and schedule.
  • Coordinate with utility to complete interconnection upgrade design, installation and verification testing maintaining budget and schedule.
  • Interface with vendors and subcontractors.
  • Oversee system commissioning and certification.
  • Support working relationships with electrical contractors, business partners, and customers.
  • Support Energy Support Services in their efforts to coordinate Operation and Maintenance (O&M) activities for projects under ownership.
  • Assist in training new team members and act as a consultant when they have questions or issues.
  • Assist in the development of workflows for the engineering team and company.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as requested.

Experience:

  • Six years or more of directly related experience in project management, project development, engineering, construction, and/or related field required.
  • Electric utility, infrastructure, or industrial fields experience preferred.

 

Special Requirements:

  • Travel is occasionally required
  • Requires a high level of interpersonal skills to establish and maintain positive and productive working relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Analytical, investigation, and problem-solving skills.
  • This position may be subject to assessment of skills, job match and/or aptitude.
  • PMP Certification is highly desirable, but not required.
  • NABCEP Certification is highly desirable, but not required.
  • This is a hybrid role. The minimum is 3 days in the office.
  • This role can be based out of any of our offices in Annapolis, MD, Roseville, MN, or Horseheads, NY.

The expected annual compensation range for this position is $90,000-110,000, encompassing base pay and potential incentive target opportunity. This range is a good faith estimate based on the position's requirements. Specific compensation offered to the selected candidate may vary depending on factors such as relevant knowledge, skills, training, experience, and market conditions. Additionally, this position may qualify for a comprehensive benefits package, including Retirement Benefits, Medical, Dental & Vision, Health Savings Account, Flexible Spending Account, Life Insurance and Disability, Tuition Reimbursement, Voluntary Benefits, Paid Absences, and more.
