Role: Business Development & Partnerships Manager 

Reports to: Head of Customer Success 

Location: UK (Hybrid working) 


We're on a mission to significantly reduce carbon emissions from commercial buildings, and we're seeking a passionate and committed Business Development & Partnerships Manager (BDM) to join our cause. Your role will be instrumental in spreading awareness of our proven technology and expanding our community of users.


We are looking for high flyers who love solving customer problems and who have a strong desire to grow our business. This role would start as part of our Customer Success team but comes with the opportunity to grow the team, potentially creating a new business team in the next few years which expands our carbon reach in the UK and beyond.

What you will do (Key Accountabilities): 

  • Expand our carbon reach: Secure new business contracts through engagement, requirement gathering, solution proposals, and win-win negotiation.
  • Sell to a Wide Market: Target businesses across various industries.
  • Partnership Development: Negotiate and secure B2B partnerships.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with internal teams on new partnership initiatives.
  • Strategic Insights and Market Intelligence: Use market data and feedback to refine strategies.
  • Represent Grid Edge at industry events.
  • Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong customer and partner relationships.
  • Develop and implement partnership strategies.
  • Support marketing efforts.
  • Ensure customer satisfaction during onboarding.
  • Become a subject-matter expert on Grid Edge鈥檚 value proposition.
  • Build relationships at all organizational levels.
  • Collaborate with Customer Success to ensure our customers are winning.
  • Coach others in sales best practices.
  • Create effective sales strategies, pricing guidelines, and go-to-market propositions.
  • Collaborate with the product team on the commercial plan.
  • Develop and lead commercial models and negotiations.
  • Support and drive sales pipeline effectiveness.
  • Achieve personal growth targets that align with team goals.

We're seeking a passionate individual who loves meeting new people, building extensive networks, challenging the norm, and is dedicated to helping us slash carbon emissions from energy usage.


How you will track your success:

Essential skills and experience: 

    • People Person: You're great at building relationships, connect easily with others, communicate clearly and understand customer needs.
    • Results-Oriented & Entrepreneurial: You're focused on getting results, hungry for success and have a go-getter attitude; bringing that energy to work every day to make a positive difference.
    • Persuasive: You can enable everyone to see what they are missing out on and don't get discouraged by "no". 
    • Quick thinker: You can think on your feet and adjust your approach to different people.
    • Proven Success: 5+ years in B2B business development and/or partnerships (ideally Proptech, Energy, Building Management Systems, or Facility Management technology).
    • High EQ: You're emotionally intelligent and can read a room.
    • Great Communicator: You can work effectively with different stakeholders.
    • Problem Solver: You can identify problems, explain them clearly, and help figure out what to tackle first.
    • Excellent consultative sales mindset; understanding customer problems to provide solutions that solve key challenges whilst handling objections, and closing deals.
    • Strategic, innovative, and passionate about tech that delivers results
    • Cost-aware and able to balance financial and strategic objectives.
    • Customer-focused with exceptional stakeholder management skills.
    • Proven ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
    • Comfortable in both strategic and technical conversations.
    • Track record in both Private and Public Sector sales (ideally technology or infrastructure).
    • Detail-oriented with a passion for building at the earliest stages.


Nice to have skills and experience: 

  • Be adaptable when communicating and handle pressure like a pro.
  • Interest in sustainability and energy transition.
  • Have a soft spot for AI or machine learning.
  • Think outside the box and take calculated risks to streamline things.
  • Experience in public sector procurement.
