About the Role
Fantastic role for someone to kick of their career in data especially for those with a soil science/geochemistry/agronomy background. Less experienced scientists and graduates are encouraged to apply.

We are seeking a detail-oriented Junior Data Quality Analyst to join our team and play a crucial role in managing and organizing our geochemical data. This role will focus on processing and integrating soil, liquid, gas, and vegetation data from internal and external labs into our database, ensuring accuracy and consistency. The ideal candidate will have a strong education/foundation in data management, a keen eye for detail, and a passion for combating climate change.

The Impact you can make
As a Junior Data Quality Analyst, your accurate and efficient data management is the bedrock of our research and operations. By ensuring data integrity, you will support our research and development efforts, enabling reliable carbon dioxide removal (CDR) quantification and thus the scale-up of our enhanced rock weathering (ERW) practices in Brazil.

Core working relationships
You will work closely with our team of scientists and lab technicians to ensure accurate data for CDR quantification and research especially with Junyao, Veronica under our Modelling and Data function and our Lab Team with Leticia and Bruno. You will also collaborate with the software/IT team for database maintenance and improvement.

Key Responsibilities
  • Data Organization & Management
    • Organize and standardize soil, liquid, gas, vegetation data from external and internal labs
    • Transform raw data into structured formats suitable for database integration
    • Ensure data accuracy and consistency during the integration process
    • Work with IT support to maintain and update the database structure as needed
    • Provide regular updates on data processing progress as data dashboards and reports

  • Quality Assurance & Quality Control
    • Work with the science and lab teams to understand data requirements and ensure data accuracy
    • Perform rigorous QA/QC checks on data to identify and correct errors
    • Communicate effectively with the science and lab teams to resolve data discrepancies and anomalies

Core Skills & Experience
  • Understand data management principles and practices
  • Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to data accuracy
  • Apply basic geochemical principles to interpret and validate data
  • Understand the context of geochemical data and its relevance to scientific research
  • Proficiency in Google Sheets, including functions and formulas
  • Fluency in English and Portuguese, both written and oral
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Key Qualities
  • BSc, Master or PhD degree (or relevant, equivalent experience) in soil science, environmental science, geology, geochemistry, chemistry, or a related field
Bonus Points (but not essential)
  • Experience in QA/QC procedures
  • Coding skills in Python or R for data manipulation and analysis
  • Experience with database management systems (e.g., MySQL, BigQuery)
