Job Description
Purpose
Reporting to the Senior Vice President, the role will be supporting Brookfield Renewable Group on the legal aspects of its investment strategy.
Responsibilities
Supporting the Brookfield Renewable Group in all aspects of the legal investments function, including:
Managing the legal aspects of mergers, acquisitions, or disposals, including coordinating due diligence, and reviewing and advising on deal documentation.
Reviewing and advising on capital management initiatives and relevant documentation
Assist in reviewing and advising on relevant regulatory submissions for transactions.
Management of specific external legal engagements, liaison with external legal advisers as required, review of legal advice issued by external legal advisers and communication of such advice to internal stakeholders.
Monitoring legal issues associated with existing portfolio companies (e.g., follow on investments, major contracts, litigation, regulatory)
Form collaborative relationships with relevant personnel from the management team and across the Brookfield Group functions such as Tax, Accounting, Risk, and Compliance.
Other ad hoc projects and duties as required.
Primary focus will be in Australia and New Zealand however the role will include working across integrated teams across the greater Asia Pacific region.
Requirements
Tertiary qualifications in law with a strong academic record (preferably including Honours).
Admission to practice as a solicitor or barrister in at least one state in Australia.
Tertiary qualifications in commerce or finance highly regarded.
At least 3 years of post-admission legal experience in a M&A, finance, equity capital markets or debt capital markets division of a top-tier law firm.

Previous experience in an in-house legal counsel role or secondment will be highly regarded.
