Overview

Joby Aviation is seeking an enthusiastic Staff Maintenance Engineer to join our growing Aftermarket Support Engineering Team with supporting the development of the S4 maintenance program and related strategic initiatives. The role will actively work cross functionally with teams in Joby aviation including engineering, manufacturing, and airline operations to successfully deploy protocols related to fleet care. The position will be in our Santa Cruz or Marina CA site.

 

The Staff Maintenance Engineer will be responsible for:

  • Policy and Procedures management for the S4 maintenance program
  • Cross-functional maintenance program initiatives
  • Execution of the S4 Maintenance program development process

Responsibilities

• Act as a strategic leader for S4 maintenance programs and product support• Develop and improve processes to support initial type certification and recurring revisions to the maintenance program, including regulatory facing policies

• Provide guidance to the design organization to ensure the design meets the needs of the maintenance team including feeding back field information into the design

• Coordinate for assigned chapters the different maintenance task types, including airworthiness limitations and recommended maintenance• Conduct engineering analysis (MSG-3) to support maintenance program deliverables and determine appropriate maintenance tasks and intervals• Guide periphery efforts which impact maintenance including troubleshooting, MMEL, aircraft operational performance analysis and processes• Carry out on-aircraft or near aircraft task validation activities• Support knowledge transfer and development of junior team members

Required

  • 10+ years experience of relevant industry experience; aircraft OEM, Military or airline
  • 7+ years experience in aircraft maintenance including scheduled and unscheduled
  • 5+ years of MSG-3 or equivalent maintenance program development
  • Expert in aircraft maintenance programs
  • Ability to think creatively about the balance between operations and technical functions
  • Strong understanding of operational business models
  • Proactive mindset, comfortable in a dynamic and evolving environment

Desired

Compensation at Joby is a combination of base pay and Restricted Stock Units (RSUs). The target base pay for this position is $168,900 - $266,700/yr. The compensation package offered will be determined by location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
