Where in the world of OVO will I be working? 

You’ll be working in our Zero Carbon Living team, the role  will be home based with occasional travel to either London or Bristol. You will report in to the Head of Zero Carbon Living.

What will I be doing?

As we grow our Zero Carbon Living business it’s a great time to join and help shape the way we deliver carbon cutting tech to our members and beyond.

Zero Carbon Living includes the internal brand of OVO Drive, we create the amazing tariffs such as OVO Drive + Anytime and also own EV charger installations, leasing and a number of innovative partnerships. We work really closely with our sister company Kaluza who have the platform to optimise smart charging for our members, which is where this role comes in.

This role will be a pivotal piece of the puzzle,  helping our members and non members in their transition from ICE to BEV, you’ll do this by helping customers through the technical survey stage of their charger installation, supporting the technical support team and being the pivotal person between ZCL and the operations teams,  as such we are looking for a highly qualified  technical manager with an electrical background and experience of managing the installations of EV charge points at peoples homes; commercial charging experience would be a bonus.

Key responsibilities: 

  • Be the go-to person for all technical knowledge of installing EV charge points
  • Work with the technical support team to assist customers through the technical survey and purchasing journey of an EV charge point, making it as simple and easy as possible for the customer, so they get a great OVO experience
  • Work closely with the Kaluza team acting as the ZCL technical expert, ensuring technical feasibility in everything we do. 
  • Engage with 3rd party software provider to create, maintain and improve the customer journey
  • Liaising with operations teams to ensure that all standards, policies, and environmental plans are compliant with legislation
  • Using your expert knowledge of the sector you’ll offer technical and operational guidance to help shape our EV hub content, helping customers make the right decision
  • Be the link between the ZCL and field operations teams, managing technical survey volumes, timeframes, SLA’s and customer service up to the point of handover to the field services team
  • Support strategic & commercial evaluation of various products and projects in terms of identifying the right technical performance & compatibility with OVO’s product stack
  • Represent ZCL at internal and external events 
  • Evaluate the risks, challenges and opportunities for projects which require electrical installations - working with OVO’s Field Operations, Solutions and Compliance teams
  • Own and develop training processes for people across the ZCL and OVO retail group including customer service, technical support agents etc to gain knowledge & expertise with all thing electric vehicles

Is this the job for me? 

Ideally you will have the following:

  • You must hold relevant electrical engineering qualifications (apprenticeship / City & Guilds / NVQ / 17th/18th Edition etc.)
  • Extensive experience in the Installation, Maintenance and/or design of EV charging equipment with 5+ yrs “boots on the ground” experience
  • A higher qualification in Electrical, Electronic or Systems Engineering
  • Certified electrical engineer NICEIC or equivalent
  • Knowledge of ‘The Code of Practice for Electric Vehicle Charging Equipment Installation’ (IET)
  • Full Driving License
  • Experience of current/older technologies such as gas, oil, LPG heating systems.
  • Effective networking and influencing skills
  • Experience of  monitoring systems to gather intelligence 
  • Proven project management skills, with an ability to see the bigger picture and deliver work at a fast pace
  • Skilled at writing with an ability to explain complex topics and issues in a way that is accessible to a wide range of audiences
  • Adaptable and flexible approach to plans, able to respond confidently and positively to changing scenarios
  • Ability to manage internal and external stakeholders and ability to build, develop and maintain relationships and present confidently to senior stakeholders; and
  • Able to operate independently as part of a small, hard-working team and prepared to assist outside of office hours where necessary to meet project requirements.
