About this job

The IT Systems Administrator is responsible for the daily operations, maintenance, care and feeding, implementation, and support of systems and services that we use at UPSIDE Foods.  This role requires a broad knowledge of both on-premise and SaaS services, including their use in a secure and fast paced environment.  Reporting to the Director of IT, this role will be critical in working collaboratively to develop and implement how we use technology today, and beyond.  The candidate should be comfortable working across various environments, implementing heterogeneous systems, and working among a group of exceptionally talented people.  In addition to managing technical systems and implementations, this individual will also work closely with the IT Service Desk Manager to handle Tier 2/3 escalations and drive them to resolution.

Responsibilities include...

  • Deep administrative responsibilities, including:
    • Managing servers & network equipment, including IPSEC VPN & SD-WAN
    • SaaS configuration management & compliance
    • SAML/LDAP configuration with multi-site replication experience
    • Active Directory w/replication, GPO, Okta Universal Directory
  • Additional desirable skills include:
    • A/V equipment expertise
    • AWS experience
    • Scripting and automation (bash / PowerShell / python)
    • Experience with large, fiber connected, replicated storage environments
  • Contributing to architecture and design of multi-site network & domain infrastructure, with an eye for scalability, redundancy and reliability.
  • Designing, communicating, and helping enforce IT security policies to protect employees and company IP and meet compliance goals.
  • On-call incident management, including support for our manufacturing facilities.

  • Security minded; You typically seek the most secure option, while considering how to decrease friction for your users. 
  • You have had 5+ years supporting fast growing businesses with technology. 
  • You roll with the punches, and don’t have a hard time context switching when necessary. 
  • You have deep experience across technology stacks, and are highly comfortable with SaaSOps/DevOps. 
  • You have a proven history in working well with other technology teams. 

Who you’ll work with…

  • As a senior IT person, you will interact with a majority of the UPSIDE team in devising solutions to  high level (Tier 3) problems.
  • You will interface with Tier 1 & 2 support for escalations, the Sr. IT team on problem solving, and our infrastructure customers on projects & support.
  • While we expect growth in all functions in the next 1-2 years, this role will most frequently interact with our Data, Process Automation, and IT partners.

Key Contributions in First Year…

  • Devise and implement a monitoring & alerting framework for critical systems and services. 
  • Support all OT and IT requests at a Tier 2 and Tier 3 level, managing requests within or beating the SLA.
  • Perform regular auditing and reporting across all of our systems, ensuring that we meet our security goals and escalating and chasing issues in a consistent and timely manner. 
  • Actively seek out problems and create/implement remediation plans to resolve.
  • Work closely with technology partners and consultants to deliver on projects and systems in the estimated time frames.
