Job DescriptionAECOM Buildings + Places is seeking a motivated Mechanical Field Engineer to join our growing team in Burnaby, BC. This role will focus on the design and delivery of building systems for a variety of projects, with an emphasis on light industrial facilities, including water and wastewater treatment plants. This position can be based out of Burnaby , BC. This is a newly created position.The successful candidate will work closely with multidisciplinary teams throughout all project phases, from planning and design to construction and commissioning. Responsibilities include mechanical system design, technical coordination, field reviews, client interaction, and ensuring compliance with applicable codes and standards.This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to impactful projects across Canada while working with a collaborative and highly experienced team. Hybrid work arrangements are available, with occasional travel to project sites as required.Major Responsibilities: As a Mechanical Field Engineer, the selected candidate may be required to support design-phase tasks as well as construction-phase services and site-based responsibilities, including:<ul><li>Perform regular site inspections and field reviews, monitoring mechanical system installation for quality, schedule, and code compliance.</li><li>Respond to RFIs, review shop drawings, assess change requests, and provide technical support to contractors and clients.</li><li>Liaise between the construction site and the design team, ensuring timely resolution of field discrepancies or changes.</li><li>Design HVAC systems, including duct and pipe sizing, equipment selection, equipment schedules, and coordination with vendors.</li><li>Serve as the mechanical discipline lead on-site during construction to ensure adherence to design intent and contract documents.</li><li>Design complete plumbing systems, including potable water and drainage systems, pump sizing, and water heater selection.</li><li>Perform self-quality control reviews of mechanical design drawings, calculations, and specifications prior to submitting them to senior staff for review and verification.</li><li>Work independently and make technical decisions based on building codes, industry standards, and company best practices.</li><li>Attend and lead meetings with clients, contractors, vendors, and stakeholders to present technical content and address project requirements.</li><li>Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills, presentation ability, and client interface experience in both virtual and in-person settings.</li><li>Support commissioning by participating in mechanical equipment start-up, witnessing functional testing, and reviewing commissioning reports.</li><li>Ensure compliance with site safety protocols and uphold AECOM’s health and safety standards across all field activities.</li></ul>
