Where in the world of OVO will I be working?

The Operations Value & Transformation team is a newly established area that seeks to use modern analytic and data engineering tools, combined with a deep understanding of the value journey for reads and estimation to solve critical problems throughout the business.

Working within the Operations Value & Transformation team, you will work on diverse and high value problems impacting the key operational areas, consisting of key customer touch points, customer transfers, billing and industry operations.

We aim to deliver value for both our customers and the business by understanding the journey our customer and their data goes on and using this to improve outcomes and drive satisfaction.

You will work with business SMEs and analysts with a wide range of skills and knowledge and will have the opportunity to work collaboratively on large projects as well as having ownership of processes and delivering analysis independently. You must be able to work with stakeholders to understand, summarise and visualise complex problems into simple to understand solutions, using data to inform and influence business decisions.

With responsibilities including automated delivery of industry processes; mining complex data to recover financial benefit across our customer life cycle, key account health check monitoring, and providing vital insight to senior management, you can be guaranteed to have an impact in this role.

As a Data Analyst, you will be expected to provide analytics to projects in the form of descriptive analyses, prospective service modelling, retrospective analyses and evaluation. With a high degree of autonomy associated with this role, you’ll manage the expectations of your peers, manager, and other stakeholders. 

We aim to use a wide range of tools including SQL (BigQuery), Python, Git and BI software (Tableau/PowerBI/Google Data Studio). Technical development is a key focus within the team, and we are always seeking to learn and implement the latest tools and standard methodologies, as well as upskilling team members.  There is an excellent community of practice for analysts within OVO and the role holder will have the ability to learn and share learning with peers.

What will I be doing?

  • Work with operation SMEs to map out business processes targeted for this project
  • Identify datasets for all business processes and outcomes
  • Identify customer impact data relating to inbound communications
  • Construct bespoke data models incorporating views of desired operational processes and customer contact
  • Validate and test data models with SMEs
  • Ensure the accuracy, completeness and timely delivery of reports and analysis
  • Communicate conclusions drawn from, and implications of results from statistical and performance analyses to a wide range of stakeholders, guiding them to make an informed decision on a certain course of action
  • Convey statistical concepts clearly and develop and deliver formal presentations to individuals and groups
  • Adhere to data governance and best practices that align with the data strategy for the area.
  • Experiment and test solutions for problems, validate assumptions for them, and the ability to associate one idea to another to reach a solution
  • Think in advance about the bottlenecks of the process and the possibility of scaling it, remembers vulnerabilities and problems caused by the improper design
  • Document business requirements from multiple stakeholder groups, propose tooling solutions and co-ordinate prioritisation activities
  • Maintain a deep awareness of how a business operation works and help the stakeholders explore technology possibilities to optimise ways of working.
  • Independently solve various problems and has extensive experience refortifying complicated problems through the application of design patterns

  • Experience in working with technical products that have multiple stakeholders
  • A creative thinker who thrives off direct responsibility and delivering value
  • Solution-oriented, driving value creation through simplification
  • Experience in writing queries in BigQuery and preferably experience with other programming languages, such as using Python or R to interrogate large data sets and identify actionable insights
  • The ability to provide clarity in a complex and changing environment
  • Consistent in demonstrating an understanding of the area and wider business
  • The ability to see the bigger picture and understand how a wide range of analytical outputs link together
  • Experience with data preparation methodologies and visualisation tools such as Tableau
  • Adaptable to change with experience working in a fast-paced, ambitious, customer focused environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with both outstanding verbal and written communications
