The Role 

  • Team Mission:  The QA team plays a key role throughout the entire development process at Span.  The team is responsible for the quality of all SPAN products to ensure that the customer has an amazing experience through testing, planning, and having the foresight to eliminate issues before they reach our customers.  

  • Specific Areas of Focus: Establish a deep understanding of our products that include our mobile apps and hardware such as our SPAN home electrical panel, as well as their underlying architecture to help create and test robust test scenarios that mimic real-life usage.  

 

Role & Team Responsibilities

  • As a Sr. QA Engineer, you will be expected to:

    • Lead and take ownership of projects.

    • Design and execute test cases, including both manual and automated

    • Identify opportunities for automation whenever possible.

    • Perform thorough regression tests documented by test reports

    • Identify, record, thoroughly document and track bugs

    • Develop and apply testing processes for new and existing products

    • Collaborate with other teams such as Product, Design, and Engineering teams to help with test planning and identifying system requirements

About You

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years experience in a Sr. QA Engineer role

  • Exceptional attention to detail

  • Strong knowledge of software QA methodologies, tools and processes

  • Experience testing Mobile apps with Android and iOS (native and web-based)

  • Experience in writing clear, concise and comprehensive test plans and test cases

  • Experience with both white box and black box testing

  • Experience testing APIs

  • Experience testing firmware, hardware / IoT products in addition to software

  • BS or MS in Engineering or Computer Science or industry equivalent experience

Bonus Qualifications

We would love to hire someone who has:

  • Experience running tests with Automation test tools such as SauceLabs, Appium

  • Experience with REST API or GraphQL

  • Experience with renewable energy

  • Comfort with residential electrical wiring and AC.

  • An electrical engineering degree and/or familiarity with + understanding of electronics lab equipment (multimeters, oscilloscopes)

  • Experience working at a startup and in new product launch environments

The U.S. base salary range for this position is $113,000 - $154,000 plus benefits, equity and variable compensation for Sales-related roles. This range represents SPAN’s good faith estimate of competitively-priced salary for the role based on national, real-time industry data from companies of a similar growth stage. This range reflects minimum and maximum new hire salaries for the role across US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by location and individual factors including relevant skills, experience and education or training. This range correlates to the relative level of the candidate we believe we need for the role and may require an adjustment for candidates of a different level.
