Job Description

The Center for EcoTechnology is hiring a Director of Projects and Program Management (PMO) - Remote to report to the Chief Growth Officer (CGO). The Director in this position develops, plans, and implements project delivery processes and policies that promote delivery excellence, coaches and directs project management staff, and works with other department leaders to define, prioritize, and develop projects and programs. CET has a diverse portfolio of environmental and social impact programs spanning commercial waste reduction, energy efficiency, electrification, deconstruction, and other decarbonization projects.

The Director of Projects and Program Management job:

  • Direct and manage the day-to-day operations of the department, including supervising and developing a team of dedicated Project and Program Managers.
  • Direct the development and implementation of best practice project management methodologies across the organization.
  • Drive adoption of methodologies across all cross-department projects and programs, to ensure consistent, reliable delivery with minimal business impact.
  • Deeply embed equity and inclusion objectives into program and project activities to increase diversity of beneficiaries.
  • Identify opportunities for innovation and continuous process improvement.
  • Proactively engage and consult with other department Directors on project management needs and performance.
  • Work with the CGO, Project Managers, and Program Managers to identify and develop new business opportunities with current clients or as an extension of ongoing activities.
  • Ensure that projects are staffed with the right Project or Program Manager based on skills, experience, knowledge, and abilities to match project complexity.
  • Champion CET's DEI initiative and nurture a healthy and inclusive team culture.

 

 Knowledge/Skills/Experience preferences:

  • A minimum of 10 year’s relevant work experience as a project delivery practitioner building, deploying, and/or supporting a high functioning project management office preferred.
  • At least 5 years in a supervisory role or an equivalent combination of training/experience.
  • Proficient in various project management methodologies with appropriate application, governance processes, and functions.
  • Experience managing a portfolio of projects or programs to help team members effectively manage, utilize, and forecast resource capacity vs. demand.
  • Proven experience establishing cross-team, cross-project strategies to overcome challenges of a matrix structure.
  • Budgeting skills to track and monitor project financial performance and help team members find cost-effective solutions.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with demonstrated experience leading successful teams.
  • Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Preferred Qualifications:
    • Experience working for a non-profit or environmental services consultancy.
    • Experience proposing, managing and/or delivering grant-funded projects.
    • Proficiency in Salesforce and NetSuite or equivalent CRM and ERP platforms.
    • Professional project management certification (e.g., PMP).

 

Location: This is a remote position located in the Northeast, with occasional travel to Massachusetts. Remote employees must have high-speed internet access and a working location free from distractions and interference during business hours.
