Job Description

We’re making zero carbon happen

We’re OVO Group, a big family of companies united by a single vision: to get to zero carbon, fast.

We call this Plan Zero – and it shows how we’ll be fighting the climate crisis and transforming the way people use energy over the next decade. To do this, we need the sharpest minds. Are you up for the challenge?

Do great green things with OVO Energy

So much has changed since we launched in 2009.  Our goal remains the same though: make energy cheaper, greener, and simpler. Just as it was on day one.

Everyone belongs at OVO

Our aim is to build a diverse and inclusive movement: teams of brilliant people, with unique talents, skills, passions, and experiences.

We encourage everyone to join us, whatever your gender identity, race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, age, life experience, or background. So please come as you are – we can’t wait to meet you.

Where in the world of OVO will I be working?

The Workday Team at OVO supports the entire OVO group, working with the People and Finance functions by configuring system updates, implementing new functionality and providing the business with accurate and timely reporting. The ideal candidate exhibits self-motivation, excellent communication skills and has strong experience of working within Workday HCM modules to configure and improve processes.

What will I be doing?

We are looking for an experienced & creative Project Manager to join OVO’s Workday Product Team. You will have extensive experience of technical delivery and business change; you’ll back this up with formal training in change management, and a genuine talent and a passion for problem solving. Finally, you will motivate multiple teams to ensure OVO achieves major strategic objectives.

Project Managers at OVO work in and for a dynamic and fast-moving business. The lifecycle of a project at OVO demands a truly agile mindset as well as the tools and experience to match. Project Managers who succeed at OVO are fast learners, build great relationships right from the off, understand when to dive into the detail and when to rely on expert team-mates. On top of that, they lead the practice of project management by example; demonstrating their experience and skills to the rest of the team.

You will have hands-on experience of successfully managing multiple complex projects that include technical and business process change.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Taking complete management of your project; delivering at speed but never compromising on quality
  • End to end project management in a highly Agile environment
  • Managing and building trusting relationships with stakeholders from entry-level to Director
  • Project setup and definition, including leading project kick-offs and defining success criteria
  • Leading project governance routines
  • In-life reporting and forecasting on project timings and scope
  • Risk and issue management
  • Working with Business Change colleagues to ensure business readiness and transition to a stable BAU environment
  • Championing a culture of continuous improvement
  • Bringing highly creative and new ideas forward
  • Supporting the development of project management techniques; helping the Workday team to be recognised as a centre of excellence
  • Supporting the evolution of the team’s ways of working  - shaping working practices, tooling and bringing best practice thinking into the team

Is this the job for me?

Ideally you will have:

  • The ability to manage multiple projects end to end
  • Excellent communication skills, with experience in influencing key project decisions with sponsors and stakeholders
  • Strong facilitation and conflict resolution skills, specifically enabling stakeholders to align quickly around project objectives
  • Find new concepts easy to understand, and show the tenacity to keep asking until clarity is achieved
  • The ability to simplify complexity / readily identify opportunities and translate this into strategic decisions and recommendations
  • Enjoy understanding the impact and opportunities of change, and converting this understanding into new concepts and recommendations
  • A desire to champion and demonstrate continuous improvement through the project lifecycle
  • An aptitude for working within a dynamic and rapidly changing environment
  • A growth mindset with a passion for learning and continued development
  • Knowledge in Agile theory, principles and techniques, and experience with applying Agile to a variety of projects (essential)
  • Formal project management qualifications and certificates such as Prince and Agile PM (essential)
  • Formal training and certifications in change management (desirable)
